Frequently Asked Questions

The short answer: Because 83% of our students pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).

The long answer: The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) requires candidates to complete a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program OR gain equivalent work experience in order to be eligible. To be eligible for the PTCE, a candidate must complete one of the following two pathways:

Pathway 1: A PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program (like the courses we offer).

Pathway 2: A minimum of 500 hours of equivalent work experience as a pharmacy technician.

In most cases, in order to practice a pharmacy technician you will need to be certified, the experience pathway isn't possible in many states.

The material on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) is highly specialized and is challenging to those interested in the profession but without previous experience. That’s where RxTechExam can help. We are a PTCB-Recognized course. We cover testable material on the exam and concentrate on the tougher elements, integrating proven methods for you to master the material at your own pace, on your own schedule, on whatever device you'd like. Our program is balanced between expertise and practicality. While most programs fill your mind with unnecessary elements, we concentrate only on testable material for the PTCE.

RxTechExam is a premier Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Recognized Educator. We prepare individuals to pass the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) through our self-paced online course.  More About Us.

It is our recommendation to take the PTCE. Both are accredited exams the ExCPT has gained acceptance over the last few years but some employers won't recognize it as readily as they do the PTCE. A person who is capable of passing the PTCE is capable of passing the ExCPT, and it is because of this that our site will prepare you for both.

No.  We do not administer the PTCE or the ExCPT.  We prepare prospective pharmacy technicians to pass the PTCE through our self-paced online course. Please click on the links provided to sign up or for more information on either exam after the completion of our course.

Yes. Both 100CPhT and 123CPhT are PTCB-Recognized Training Programs. This is a requirement for anyone who takes the PTCB Exam after January 1st, 2020.

100CPhT is our original course in it's latest version.

We created 123CPhT based on the feedback of thousands of students in an effort to optimize performance on the PTCE.

123CPhT+ bundles our 123CPhT course with the (official) Pre-PTCE, Practice Bank and PTCE registration.

To be eligible to take the PTCB Exam (PTCE) you must first take a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program (RxTechExam.com) or work a minimum of 500 hours as a Pharmacy Technician. You will then need to pass the question PTCB Exam. More information can be found on the PTCE Candidate Guidebook.

In most cases the only action required after passing the PTCE is to register with your state.  Due to varying state regulations you’ll need to check with your state’s board of pharmacy.  Click here for more information about your state's requirements.

In many cases, a technician that is nationally certified receives a higher wage and is considered more qualified when searching for employment as a pharmacy technician. Many employers require Certification - CPhT.

Put very simply… No.  We provide everything you’ll need to study for, and pass the PTCE. The PTCB doesn't require any externship in order to take their exam.

You may test out of any specific module.  All that’s required for completion of any one module is a passing score on the end of module test (90%).

We are green friendly; everything is available online at your fingertips. None of the material is mailed to you.

A completion certificate will be made instantly available & emailed to you after completing the course.

The course is complete when you’ve completed each module and end of course exam - scoring an 90% or better.  You will have unlimited access to the course purchased until it expires - 5 months after purchase. It typically takes students between 4-6 weeks to complete the course.

While much of the course is delivered in video format, many students benefit from the “not so green” technique of words on paper.  We understand and encourage the printing of the available, printable materials.  They are, however, for individual use only, and under no circumstance may be reproduced, stored, or manipulated in any form without expressed written permission from Career Ignition LLC.
