Oklahoma has the some of the strictest regulations of any state in regard to Pharmacy Technician Licensing. After becoming licensed in Oklahoma to practice as a Pharmacy Technician, you will likely be required by an employer to become nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Most people find it effective to study for the PTCB Examand become Nationally Certified before trying to find a job as it can provide them with a greater salary and ease in finding a job.

Oklahoma State Specific Requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Complete a Technician in Training Application and submit a “passport-style photo” along with the $10 fee to the North Dakota State Board of Pharmacy, PO Box 1354, Bismark, ND, 58502-1354.
  • Complete an employer based training program that involves two phases (initial training and on the job training)
  • Submit an application for registration as a Pharmacy Technician and pass the test at the end of the application.

Oklahoma Pharmacy Technician Average Salary: $13.41

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Requirements:

  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must have a high school diploma or GED
  • You must have not been convicted of any felonies or drug related misdemeanors
  • Study for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE)
  • Complete the application process at PTCB.org and include, as part of the application process, pay the exam fee of $129

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Continuing Education Requirements:

  • Obtain 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE) during 2 year re-certification cycle
  • 1 hour must be in Pharmacy Law, 1 hour must be in Patient Safety
  • All Continuing Education must be Tech-Specific
  • The PTCB Re-certification Fee is $40 and is payable to the PTCB every 2 years
