Delaware Pharmacy Tech Requirements

The Delaware Board of Pharmacy accepts the certification of the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). The easiest way to obtain the title of Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of Delaware is to prepare for and pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE).
On July 11, 2022, the Delaware Code Title 24 Board of Pharmacy Regulation 19.0 “Technicians: Qualifications, Training, and Duties” language was updated to authorize “registered” certificated pharmacy technicians to administer adult immunizations under the supervision of a pharmacist, but only where training and administration requirements have been met.

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Requirements:
- You must have not been convicted of any felonies or drug related misdemeanors
- Complete a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Recognized Program, and then pass the Certification Exam (PTCE)
- Complete the application process at PTCB.org and include, as part of the application process, pay the exam fee of $129
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Continuing Education Requirements:
- Obtain 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE) during 2 year re-certification cycle
- 1 hour must be in Pharmacy Law, 1 hour must be in Patient Safety
- All Continuing Education must be Tech-Specific
- The PTCB Re-certification Fee is $40 and is payable to the PTCB every 2 years
