Texas Pharmacy Technician Requirements
Texas has “Trainee” and “Registered” Technician designations. With our course, you can skip the “Trainee” step. The key is to become certified through the PTCB, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. The test isn’t easy but our PTCB-Recognized Pharmacy Technician Courses will assure your success!
- Enroll in either of our courses, both are PTCB-Accredited
- Pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE)
- Submit your application for Pharmacy Tech Licensure
- Complete the Continuing Education Requirements every two years

Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Requirements:
Complete our PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program or have over 500 hours of Pharmacy Technician experience. Complete the application process at PTCB.org and include, as part of the application process, pay the exam fee of $129
Continuing Education Requirements:
- All Continuing Education must be Tech-Specific
- Texas and the PTCB Require that you obtain 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE) during 2 year re-certification cycle
- PTCB Requirements: 1 hour must be in Pharmacy Law, and 1 hour in Patient Safety
- TX Board of Pharmacy: 1 hour must be Texas Specific Pharmacy Law
